What To Watch For At Region 4 In Every Class

Region 4-4A

The streak isn't quite as long as with the Luling boys, but it is still significant and very much as respectful. The Bandera girls just graduated perhaps the winningest girls team in Texas XC history. They have won four straight regional and state title.

The fear of graduating such a talented group is the fact that the rebuilding faces you. However, Bandera looks to be sitting pretty for another year. They have the run the fastest team average of all region 4 teams and could potentially drop something in the 11:50 area.

Realignment brings a couple of new teams and individuals into Region 4-4A. One of those that will be very impactful will be Llano sophomore Anna Casey.

As a freshman last year, Casey finished 12th overall at the state cross country meet. Just missing out on a medal at the state meet could be a mental and emotional damaging thing. Well, for her that might have made her mad. Durning track season, she showed how amazingly talented she is. She ran some fast 400m races and then finished out the season leaving no doubt or chances about medals as she won both the 800m and 1600m in Austin. This year, her speed has been even more evident in the 3200m distance. She has a crazy 11:0186 on the season.

Orange Grove senior Jake Trevino is one of only two returners from last year's top 10 to return. As for this season, he comes in as the top qualifier with his 15:51. Behind him will be a quality group of guys who all have sub 16:30 times including Progresso two headed monster lead group of Jonathan Vega and Hector Peralez. Vega has a SB of 16:15 and Peralez checks in with a 16:17.
