Six Texans Who Should Get NXN At Large Bids

Alex Maier (Senior, Flower Mound)

The Oklahoma State signee owns the fastest 5,000 meter time in Texas this season with his 14:34.92, personal best to win the UIL State Cross Country Championships three weeks ago. The mark is the second fastest nationally as well. Despite, a disappointing 32nd place showing at the NXN South Regional, Maier has proved he can compete with the best on a national stage.

In 2016, Maier double dipped, competing at both the Foot Locker and NXN Regionals and it paid off. He was 4th at NXN South and 5th at Foot Locker South and finished 5th at both NXN Championship and Foot Locker Nationals in San Diego. He was 2nd at NXN South and 14th overall in Portland last year as a junior.
