Region 1 Meet Preview: Who Will Survive The Region Of Doom?

4A Girls

Last year, we saw the best 4A teams in this region and they could all be here once again. One thing for sure, the best team from last year, Canyon is back to do it again. They did something special last year that not many teams have ever done. They won the state cross country championship and then followed that up with a state track and field championship in the same season. The Canyon girls will attempt to do it all again on Monday.

However, they will get a huge challenge again from Decatur, Hereford, Andrews, and ArgyleThe margin between Canyon and Decatur will be a lot less than it previously was. The Decatur girls want to win it all this year and the sub 60 second team split will give them a shot.

Here are the girls top four team finishes:

1. Canyon

2. Decatur

3. Argyle

4. Hereford

Breanna Stewart and Gabby Davis should go 1 - 2 overall and Decatur's Jentry Lamirand can run with the best of them.

4A Boys

The boys race last year was EPIC. In fact, this year could be even better. Andrews took the regional title by a slim margin over Canyon and San Elizario with Decatur thirty point behind third place. The state meet was round two of the regional race with three teams winning trophies and the four teams finishing in four of the top five places. And oh, the team that was thirty points behind at regionals ended up winning state.
