Sulphur Bluff sophomore Christian Gonzalez finished as runner-up on Tuesday
The Region 3-1A races for the girls and boys were Tuesday at the Region 2 site. The races were just as exciting as the Region 2 races.
We know there would be a new girls team champion going to Round Rock to represent as Miller Grove didn't have a complete team to represent. Sophomore Jamilyn Hensley finished third overall in the race to ensure Miller Grove will be represented on the girls side.
However, it was Bailey Neal (Sulphur Bluff) who repeated as the region champion. She finished in 12:06 to out kick Sydney Partin (Priddy) for the win.

Priddy used Partin's second place performance to catapult them to the team win. They got another top-15 performance from Karissa Seider (12th place).
Slidell had a strong performance from their 2-4 runners and had a 1:07 split that helped them to the runner up place.
Woodson and Avery were able to manage the third and fourth place finishes to earn their trip to the state meet. Avery was just three points ahead of Gorman (178-181) who unfortunately was fifth missing out on the state meet.

Tanner Hensley finished third at the Region 3-1A Championships
The boys meet was just as good as the girls. The Miller Grove versus Saltillo is still the big drama in the region.
Miller Grove got the team win by scoring a low 28 points; while Saltillo still scored less than 100 points with their total of 74, the second half of the race told the story.
Saltillo was packed up at the front of the race, but as things progressed Miller Grove was able to stay steady.
Lance Verner Davis took the win with his 16:34. He pulled away from Christian Gonzalez (Sulfur Bluff). Tanner Hensley (Miller Grove) provided a good punch with his third place finish, helping to keep the scoring total low.

As Miller Grove looks to continue their hold on the UIL 1A classification with Saltillo still there, it'll be Slidell and Blum also representing the region.
The Slidell boys joined their girls squad by also qualifying for state and Blum will also go to Round Rock.
