TAPPS 4A Recap

4A Girls

Emily Smith (Colleyville Covenant Christian) didn't have to run as fast as she did last year to win the title.

The sophomore grabbed her second TAPPS 4A cross country title by holding off two fast freshmen runners.

Marian Mann (Houston Northland Christian) finished second in 12:48 and Tayley Bullen (Lubbock Trinity Christian) was third in 13:05.

The Woodlands Legacy Prep was able to win the team title by a slim four point margin over Tyler TK Gorman.

Freshman Charlotte Freeman, and junior Aubrey Davis both turned in top 10 individual finishes to help lead The Woodlands Legacy Prep to the win.

Maria Kariampuzha finished ninth to lead TK Gorman and their 55 second split pushed the stat line and made it as close of a race as it was.

Dallas Covenant finished third overall in the team race.


4A Boys

In the meet preview, we said that William Peters (Dallas Covenant) was trying to win his third state title, but Luke Mason (Sugarland Logos Preparatory Academy) would be one of the challengers.

Not only did he challenge, but he came away with the victory 16:38 to 16:54 over Peters.

Mason still came away with a state championship by the end of the day. No, he didn't get the individual win, but he once again got the team win. His Covenant squad backed him up big time going third and fourth individually with Logan Rice and Edward Graham.

Freshman Josh Hook finished in seventh place and Andrew Morgan finished ninth to end the scoring and the race for the championahip.

Covenant only scored 25 points and they did it with a 59 second 1-5 split.

Mason's team helped get him another medal and took the second place trophy to Sugarland by totalling 86 points and Houston St. Thomas took third place with 99 points.
