
Southlake Carroll, The Woodlands, and El Paso Eastwood were 1, 2, 3 in UIL 6A boys team competition

UIL 6A Boys Championship
Kevin Sanchez (Jr, Austin Vandegrift) scored a 2021 Texas high 193 speed rating, and the usual suspects in the 6A team race emerged as potential challengers to Texas #1 Grapevine.
The individual competition showed that Sanchez is ready to compete on the national level; his 193.2 rating would be top-ten in the nation on the most recent national speed rating merge (tullyrunners). Hudson Heikkinen (Sr, Plano West), Ruben Rojas (Sr, Katy Seven Lakes) and Hector Solis (Sr, PSJA North) also achieved season highs to lead the chase pack.
To my mind the most significant feature of the 6A race was the outstanding season-best races by Southlake Carroll and The Woodlands.
All year long, 5A champion Grapevine has been clearly the best team in Texas, and the margin has not been close. Their speed rating average (178) was five points better than The Woodlands and eights points bett...
