The UIL 1A Boys team and individual championship has been largely surprise-free these past few years, and not much appears evident to change in the 2021 version of the event: Miller Grove taking the team title, and Isaiah Billingsley taking the individual title.
Even though top runner and 2-time champion Billingsley changed schools, Miller Grove retained enough talent to hold off their rival Saltillo in the most competitive region in 1A. Also, Isaiah Billingsley (now with Tilden McMullen) easily recorded the highest speed rating in the regional merge of 1A races, even though it was fourteen points lower than his previous season high (180 at the FEAST Invitational).
Beyond the relatively clear predictions of Billingsley #1 and Miller Grove/Saltillo #1-2, things get interesting, though, especially in the team competition. For example, Slidell (#3 in Region III) has emerged this year as a clear podium ...
