Boys 110 meter hurdles
Daylon Washington (Lexington) entered the meet with the top seed time of 14.71. He had a comfortable middle lane with the lane four assignment. Dalton Morgan (White Oak) and Jeb Garnett (Spearman) also had sub 15.00 performances.
When the gun shot off it was all Washington as he took control from the start. The only question came in the final 5 meters as Washington clipped hurdle 10 and was stumbling while trying to keep his balance and stay on his feet; he did and it sealed the victory.
The race was for the silver medal as Jackson Fluitt, Garnett, and Ronald Garrett were making strong pushes over the final three hurdles. The would finish in that order for the second through fourth places.

Jaylon Washington had to be thinking double golds after his 110 meter hurdle win. He had the prime lane assignment with Takedrick Williams (Dallas Madison) and Reese Ruhnke (Goliad) on his outside in plain sight.
Washington would pull alongside Williams on the curve and it was a race between the two for the win over the final three hurdles.
However, Williams would provide resistance and serge into the lead as it appeared he would take the win. However, the final two barriers would cause some concern for Williams as he would have revert to some unconventional hurdling techniques, especially a nearly two footed landing to avoid falling.
The Madison senior would gather things and cross the finish line first and as a champion in 38.14 just ahead of Washington in 38.83 and Ruhnke in third with a time of 39.16.
