Hannah Spears Dominates 3A Girls 1,600m, Again!

Hannah Spears was the defending gold medalist from 2021 in this event and had already captured the gold medal in the 3200m in 2022. 

Spears, a Senior from Holliday took the lead out of the gate and through the first 400m she didn't relinquish the lead. Tania Ramirez a Senior from Boyd stayed close with her in second place. They separated themselves further from the pack.

At the halfway point Spears extended her lead but Ramirez wasn't about to give up. Jaycee Lyons a Junior from Holliday was in third place chasing her teammate. 

At the bell, Spears continued her dominance with the distance races. Ramirez and Lyons continued in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

The Texas Tech signee, Spears finished the race with the UIL State 3A conference meet record with a time of 5:03.23, Ramirez received the silver medal with a time of 5:08.24, and Lyons got the bronze with a time of 5:12.25.
