Isabel Conde De Frankenburg Repeats As 5A 3200 Champion

This was set up to be a fabulous race with tons of talent and boy did it deliver.

Isabel Conde De Frankenburg, a Sophomore from Cedar Park and Anastacia Gonzales, a Senior from Boerne Champion took off first and set the pace early. The whole pack stayed fairly close to each other not wanting to let anyone get too far ahead. Through the first lap Gonzales had a slight lead over De Frankenburg both had around a 1:19 first split. Sara Morefield, a Sophomore from Lucas Lovejoy was hanging on to third.

Gonzales and De Frankenburg started to pull away at the second split with a time around 1:15. They extended their lead from the rest of the pack coming down the back stretch through two. De Frankenburg then overtook Gonzales at the third split and had a time of around 1:15.

Through four De Frankenburg extended her lead and had a 1:17 split. De Frankenburg put it on cruise control with two laps to go as no one was anywhere near her. 

Gonzales was then overtaken by Sara Morefield and Destiny Quintanilla, a Senior from La Joya Palmview on the back stretch with two laps to go. Quintana pulled away from Sara Morefield and had a solid hold on 2nd place. With Sara Morefield comfortably in 3rd.

DeFrankenburg kept up her solid pace and never looked back, adding another Gold medal to her trophy case defending her 5A state title with a time of 10:34.13, Quintanilla captured the silver with a time of 10:49.07 with Sara Morefield receiving the bronze with a time of 11:00.99.
