Darius Rainey Sprints To Gold In 6A Boys 800

After taking the silver medal in 2021, Darius Rainey (Humble Summer Creek) was determined to bounce back and finish his career on top.

The pack started the race out with a blistering pace, finishing the first lap with a split of 53.57. Rainey led halfway through and was looking strong all the way. In the final straightaway, it looked like he was going to be caught but he managed to set a PR and take the victory with a time of 1:50.63.

Omer Ibrahim (Pebble Hills) ran a second lap of 57.86 seconds to claim the second spot and finish with an overall time of 1:51.81.

Despite trailing all but one runner, junior Aaron Crittendon  Killeen Ellison turned things up in the second lap with a 57.88 split to claim the final spot on the podium. Crittendon crossed the finish line with a time of 1:52.49.
