Emanuel Galdino's Strong Kick Led To UIL 6A 1,600m Victory


Emanuel Galdino wasn't messing around at the UIL 6A state meet. The senior, out of Houston Stratford, covered some ground early on as he went through his first lap in a split of 1:01.54. 

From then on out, the pace didn't slow much. Galdino continued to keep his pace, crossing the halfway point at 2:04.26. Hudson Heikkinen (Plano West) followed closely behind with a split of 2:06.04. Ruben Rojas (Katy Seven Lakes) trailed in third but was still in contention. 

Galdino finished the final lap with a 59.53 split to win. He crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 4:06.54. 

Heikkinen continued to run strong. Though he wasn't able to catch Galdino, the senior ran the final lap with a 59.17 split to take second. His time was a 4:08.47. Rojas held on for third with a time of 4:08.76.
