Defending 800m champ Aubrey O'Connell from Prosper got out to the early lead coming through the 400 in 1:01. Samantha Humphries (Flower Mound) and Sasha Crawford (Keller) were the 1,2,3 at the quarter itn 1.01.
On the back stretch it was still a three girl race with the trio pulling away. With 100m to go, it Was Humphries pulling on the side and in front of O'Connell over the last 70 meters.
She would win in 2:07.68 9 followed by O'Connell in 2:09.06, and Crawford in third in 2:09.14 to make it a Region 1-6A medal sweep.
Humphries was the silver medal winner earlier in the morning in the 3,200m.
