Natalie Cook was on the hunt for another state record after setting a new UIL State Meet record in the 3,200m this morning. Cook's intentions were clear after the first 100m as she burst into the lead and came through the first 200m and through 400m at 1:07.

At 800m she was rolling with 2:18 split and a solo 50m lead. The rest of the eight girls in the race were all together rolling through 1K in 3:06.

With Julia Heymach's (Houston Lamar) 4:40.97 record from 2015 firmly in reach, Cook could feel it.

At 1,200m Cook was at 3:28 and continuing to push forward trying to stay on consistent paces. Laboring on the back stretch, Cook was showing the determination champions are made of and with the crowd support, she put on the best kick she could muster.

In the end, the Oklahoma State signee crossed the line in 4:40.29 and a new UIL State Meet record.

Flower Mound teammates Samantha Humphries was runner-up in 4:53.50 and her twin sister Nicole Humphries was third in 4:53.59 to complete the double distance sweep for the Flower Mound Jaguars.

Samantha Humphries was second in the 3,200m this morning and returned for the 800m win prior to the 1,600m runner-up.
