21.) Zade Kayyali - Friendswood

This year Kayyali was coming in as one of the top returners for the Friendswood Mustangs and he was looking to continue the Mustang legacy of returning to the UIL 5A State Championships.

Kayyali didn't set any personal records during the fall 2021 cross country season but as a distance runner consistency is key and he held to that motto running low sixteen minutes all season.

During the championship season Kayyali played a big role in the Mustangs finishing 3rd at the Region 3 5A championships. He placed 11th overall and ran a time of 16:18.40 on a tough course in Huntsville, Texas.

Kayyali finished the 2022 outdoor season on a high note advancing to the UIL 5A State Championships as the only sophomore in the boys 3200m. Come this 2022 cross country season Kayyali is going to have tunnel vision and use the 3200m 5A State meet to fuel his desire to excel. He ran a 15:17 in the 5,000m on the track at TDF, which should give him a lot of confidence heading into cross.

Hornbeck is going to play a huge role in this upcoming cross country season if the College Park Cavaliers want to improve on their placement from last year's state meet.

When track season rolled around, Hornbeck was determined to PR in each race and he nearly completed that goal.. Hornbeck finished the 2022 outdoor track season with a 4:08.79 in the 1500m at the Victor Lopez Classic, 4:19.53 in the 1600m at the UIL 6A District 13 Meet, 8:44.93 in the 3000m was his time at the Victor Lopez Classic, and he ran 9:25.96 in the 3200m at the UIL 6A District 13 Meet.

17.) Luke Mason - Sugarland Logos Preparatory

Mason is coming off a season where he didn't have many races to his name, but when he did he made the most of them and came out victorious two out of the three races he competed in. Finishing his district meet, he ran a time of 15:48.86 and won the TAPPS 4A title.

In Mason's only race where he didn't finish on top, he placed 3rd with a time of 17:56.90. Having run that time in the first meet of the season, he quickly began to tighten some screws and get ready for the upcoming meets. Mason is looking to go back to back in his classification at the TAPPS state this coming cross country season.

Mason went on to show his range on the track setting a season record by running a 53.81 in the 400m at the Lutheran South invitational. Aiden Ramshaw (1360)
- - -

15.) Aiden Ramshaw - Katy Tompkins

Ramshaw came into the Tompkins program and has been a big addition to Yarrow's Falcon success. Last fall Ramshaw finished the cross country season with a personal best in the 5k running a time of 15:46.00 at the 2021 Strake Jesuit Crusader Invitational.

Leading up to the UIL Region 3 6A boys race there were many teams that were ready to make their mark, but Ramshaw wanted to keep the tradition going for the Falcons by running a calculated race. Due to the extreme heat that afternoon, Ramshaw collapsed mid race and the Falcons hope for making a podium finish at regionals suddenly faded. Luckily Tompkins overcame the odds and placed fourth.

The 2022 track season was a hit for Ramshaw. He set personal records in all distance events ranging from a pr in the 1500m with a 4:06.81 at the Victor Lopez Classic, 4:18.57 in the 1600m at the Texas Distance Festival, 8:47.76 in the 3000m at the Victor Lopez Classic, and 9:35.55 3200m at the Generations Park T&F Invitational. This upcoming cross country season make sure to keep Ramshaw on your radar.
