Franco, Marcelo Parra Effective In Championship Postseason

The Parra twins compete at the 2022 TAPPS State Track and Field Championships

It is quite the accomplishment for one runner at one school to qualify individually for a National Championship cross country meet. It's pretty rare for two runners from one school in the same season to do so. To have two runners from the same school and from the same family is even more phenomenal. That type of impression is something the Parra twins are accustomed to.

Franco Parra and Marcelo Parra (San Antonio TMI) have risen up the state ranks in Texas. They are amongst the top private school runners, proven state level runners, but now they have affirmed they are even a level above that. After winning the TAPPS 5A state championships, Franco finished sixth (15:40.50) at the Teams South Regional Championships and Marcelo finished fourth (15:40.10) overall. That put them in the top five individual placements, qualifying them for the National Championships.

They'll compete this weekend in Portland, Oregon to make their mark on the national stage. After affirming their ability statewide and regionally, the next rung on the ladder is to enter the national conversation.

Marcelo will also compete the following weekend in San Diego, CA at the Champs Sports National Championships. He finished ninth at the South Region Championships with a time of 15:01.42 to grab a top-10 finish. That earned him one of the 40 positions across the country to compete for that championsip event.
