All Bayleigh Minor did to open her sophomore season is break the 400-meter record at the Carl Lewis Invitation. The time now stands at 55.04.
The super sophomore from Fort Bend Christian Academy won five gold medals at the 2022 TAPPS State Track & Field Championships: 200 / 400 / 4x400 / Long and Triple Jumps. She was one of two athletes at last year's games to do so, along with Rosehill Christian's Mercy Freeman. Bayleigh earned 45 points toward the girl's squad's team title.
Her father - and coach - former Baylor sprint standout Deon Minor, has fostered a relationship that's both challenging on the track yet loving. Bayleigh, a two-sport star (volleyball) and Coach Minor understand when it's time to break and rest both body and mind and go on vacation and when it's time to excel and strive for the next level.
While it's difficult to imagine another run of 5 golds; at the same time, it's not difficult to imagine her improving upon her current times and marks come late in the outdoor season and finishing the TAPPS State Meet with 10 career golds to her credit: 24.44 200 / 56.24 400 / 18-06.60 LJ / 37-11.00 TJ.
As a track fan, you owe it to yourself to make it to a Fort Bend Christian Academy meet to witness this special athlete perform.
