Fort Worth Southwest Christian Star Enters the Spotlight in 2023
At the 2022 TAPPS State Track & Field Championships, a handful of girls competed in five events. Fort Worth Southwest Christian's Aliyah Johnson was one of them. She earned second in the 100 (11.84), second in the 200 (25.34), third in the long jump (17-04.00), third in the triple jump (36-05.75), and anchored the first-place 4x100.
This season, she looks to improve her sprint start to help lower her times, becoming more aggressive and efficient out of the blocks.
In the 2023 season's first meet at Prince of Peace, Johnson earned four medals, winning the 100, 200, long jump, and 4x100. The frigid temperatures hampered the transition from the indoor circuit to the reality of outdoors, but it's a great start, and as the weather heats up in the coming weeks, Johnson will be on pace to set PRs and enter the TAPPS State Meet as a favorite in multiple events.
