2A Boys 1600m

Wolfe City's Caden Thurman finished off a dominant day by winning the 2A Boys 1600m. Thurman was never challenged in either the 3200m or the 1600m and was impressive in both performances. He took the lead at 200m into the race and never looked back as he went out in 62.80 and hit the 800 in 2:09.33. He cruised to the finish in a comfortable 4:23.22.

Behind Thurman there was some racing action. Waco Meyer's Marco Cunningham followed his game plan from the 3200 and waited patiently to make his move. Over the final lap, he moved from fourth into second place with 200 meters remaining and he kicked it in to take his second silver medal of the day. Goldthwaite's Jose Vanegas-Martinez was third in 4:32.27.
