Long Jump

Ashton Torns (Austin Westlake) - Senior

Torns graduated as one of the most decorated UIL 6A long jumpers in recent time. After the Pandemic prematurely ended his freshman season, Torns won state as a sophomore, tied for first only to settle for second on tiebreaker as a junior, and now recaptured the state title thanks to a 25-3 wind legal jump at the UIL 6A state meet. Torns was runner-up at Nike Outdoor Nationals (NON) this year with a 24-7.75 jump. He was also runner-up in the 100m at UIL 6A and was fourth at (NON) and won the LJ and 200m at the Great Southwest Classic in 21.16.

Jayden Keys (Katy Tompkins) - Junior

For the third consecutive year, Keys finished third in the UIL 6A state meet long jump competition. The Tompkins junior went 23-4.75 in Austin after going over 24 feet in three consecutive meets and runner-up at Texas Relays. Keys also placed third at the state meet in the 110H and the 300H.

Jamarquis Johnson (Rosebud-Lott) - Junior

After placing second in 2022, Johnson won the UIL 2A state championship with a little bit of luck. He had a bad day at Region 3-2A, but was able to win the wildcard with is third place in 21-6.5. After barely getting to state, he skipped past the field with a 23-6.25 leap on his last jump to take the win. He had a 23-8 personal best at the Indian Relays.

Gabriel Wray (Wimberley) - Senior 

Bray had four meets jumping over 23 feet including a 23-7.5 PR at district and then 23-6 to capture the UIL 4A state championships.

Jayden McCoy (CC Tuloso-Midway) - Sophomore

McCoy competed in four events this year for Tuloso-Midway, but the long jump was his premiere event. He used a 23-3.75 to win the Region 4-4A title and then went 23-3.25 for the UIL 4A state meet runner-up finish.

Cordial Vann (Frisco Heritage) - Sophomore

Vann improved by leaps (no pun intended) this year and that development took him to the UIL 5A state meet. He jumped over 23 feet four times this year after a 19-1 PR last year. He jumpe 23-2.75 for a runner-up finish at the UIL 5A state meet.

Braden Womack (Crosby) - Senior

Womack had a personal best jump of 23-6 early in the season and was able to get out to 23-2.75 for third place at the UIL 5A state meet.

Cedric Johnson (Omaha Pewitt) -  Junior

After finishing runner-up at the Region 2-3A meet, Johnson bounced back in Austin to capture the UIL 3A state title with a 22-11.25 jump.

Micah Bell (Houston Kinkaid) - Senior

Bell made one last showing at the SPC Championships before heading off the University Notre Dame for football. Bell has been one of the top jumpers/sprinters in Texas over the past two years. This season he won the 100m, 200m, and the long jump at SPCs. He went over 23-5 on three occasions this year and was fifth at Texas Relays. A 23-6.50 jump was his season best.
