High Jump

Jace Posey (Houston Strake Jesuit) - Senior

The high jump is one of the few events where the athletic cross-over isn't with football, but usually with basketball. That's where Posey's expertise is, but he's also a darn good high jumper. Mother Nature possibly kept him from a state record attempt, but Posey was able to muster 7-0 jump in wet conditions for the state title. He had a 7-3 SB that was a TX No. 1 and US No. 3 ranking. He cleared 7-0 or higher five times this year.

Bradford Jennings (Corpus Christi Flour Bluff) - Senior

Jennings was TX No. 2 with his UIL 5A state championship winning 7-1.75 clearance. That was his first time over 7-0 and he cleared 6-10 six times this season.

Armando Acevedo (San Antonio Brennan) -  Senior

In just one season, Acevedo went from 6-4 and ninth at the state meet in 2022 to a 7-0 PR and runner-up at the UIL 6A state meet. He cleared 6-10 three times this year.

Cyrus Mahan (Van Alstyne) - Senior 

Mahan had a 6-6 PR coming into the season and didn't event qualify for state in 2022. He jumped over 6-6 six times this season including his 6-10 PR two occasions. The second time was good enough to earn a state championship.

Elijah Gaines (Van Horn) - Senior

Gaines completed his back-to-back UIL1A high jump championship quest when he cleared 6-5 for this year's state title. He had a 7-0 PR earlier in the year.

Hunter Murphy (Pineland West Sabine) - Senior -

Murphy achieved his 6-9 personal best at the right time of the year -- the state meet. He won the UIL 2A state championship.

Ricardo Leyva (Clint Horizon) - Senior

Leyva upped his 2022 season bests of 6-7 in height and the fourth place state meet finish. He got on a hot streak at the right time going for a  6-11 PR to win Region 1-5A and he then cleared 6-10 to finish runner-up at the UIL 5A state meet.

Nathanil Figgers (Bryan Rudder) - Senior

Figgers ended the year with a TX No. 3 rankings thanks go his 7-1 PR jump and win at the Texas Relays. He cleared 6-10 five times this year including at state for the UIL 5A third place finish.

Tyson Turner (Bryan) - Junior

Turner entered the state meet with a 6-10 PR from the Region 3-6A championships. He cleared 6-6 for third place at the state meet.
