The 2025 UIL Girls 3A 3200 meters delivered an exciting and memorable race, headlined by a dominant and composed performance from Aubrey Milam of Universal City Randolph. Milam, a senior, ran a masterclass in patience and pacing, sitting in second during the early stages before seizing the lead just before the 1200-meter mark. Known for her consistency, Milam smoothly built her advantage lap after lap, hitting 4:00 at 1200m and never looking back. With a decisive move that broke open the race and a surge that gave her nearly a 40-meter cushion in the final stages, Milam coasted confidently to the finish line in 10:46.70 - not only her first state title but a massive 30-second personal best. This win also added to her stellar year after placing third at the state cross country meet.
Konnar McClendon of Canadian, who was favored to push the pace, went out hard from the gun, opening the first 200 meters in 36 seconds and holding the lead through the first two laps. Despite not having a personal best yet this year, McClendon showed true grit, holding on for second place in 11:02.68, a new personal best. Brynleigh McFarlin of Keene, who took a more conservative approach early on, stayed relaxed with the pack and methodically worked her way into third. Known for her closing speed, McFarlin delivered on expectations, finishing with a strong 11:11.08 - another personal best and a well-earned podium finish.
Behind the top three, the race saw a clear separation between the leaders and the rest of the field. Anahi Machuca and Sarah Spears of Holliday both ran smart, steady races, moving up through the pack in the second half to finish fourth and fifth, respectively. Adelaide Murphy of West Rusk took sixth, followed by Naomi Cotero of IDEA Pharr, Samantha Fryer of East Bernard, and Rylie Rivers of Ponder rounding out the top nine.
Overall, the race was a showcase of both smart racing tactics and gutsy efforts. Milam's poised takeover and dominant finish highlighted her season-long consistency, while McClendon and McFarlin's personal bests under rising temperatures showed just how competitive and deep the Texas 3A girls' distance scene has become.
