The 2025 cross-country season in South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley is off to a fast start, with several emerging names already making their presence known on the state leaderboard. Through the first two weeks of racing, the region has seen a blend of established upperclassmen and promising underclassmen put up impressive early-season times.
Leading the way is Genesis Dolores Ramirez of La Joya Palmview, who wasted no time in stamping herself as the runner to beat in the Valley. The sophomore clocked 18:25.60 to win the McAllen Bulldogs Invitational on August 15, setting the standard for the region and showing that her breakthrough 2024 season was just the beginning.
Right behind Ramirez, the depth of talent across the area was on display at the same meet.
