SV's Clark races to state with friendly rival Nov 07, 2013

Smithson Valley junior Devin Clark says she owes much of her success over the past two seasons in cross country to her friendly rival, sophomore Paige Hofstad of New Braunfels. Over the last two weeks, they pushed each other in unprecedented ways as each established personal records for a three-mile cross country race. At the District 25-5A meet two weeks ago, they established personal bests â€" and then shattered them at Saturday's Region IV meet at the National Shooting Complex. “I'm just going to try to stay with the same people, like Paige, and we are going to push each other the whole time and we are going to PR again,” she explained.   Mae Simmons has been the one constant course of the last 12 years. The other regional courses have changed locations and  distances. I thought it would be interesting to calculate some individual and Team Numbers to see what the differential was from running at Mae Simmons and running at Old Settlers. The data suggests a 22.6 second difference.
