The two mile was won by 3A state cross country champion Nic Butts. Butts ran U.S. #13 9:30.72. He took the race from the gun and never looked back. After Butts took the lead, the field strung out pretty quickly to battle for 2nd and 3rd. The next two closest competitors to Butts were Edwin Aparicio from Cypress Lakes in 9:47.74 (U.S. #39) and Luling's Buster Roberts 9:49.37 (U.S. #43). (WATCH Race Here)

It was no surprise that NXN All-American Reed Brown set the pace early on. Brown was running with a group of a few guys on his heels including the 2015 Louisiana 1600m outdoor State Champion Eric Coston from St. Paul's School. Coston and the others all fell off the pace just after the half way mark. Then Brown dropped the hammer in the last few laps to distance himself from the competition and run a new U.S. #10 and meet record 4:16.13. Coston took 2nd running U.S. #26 4:21.17 while Parker Scott took 3rd running 4:24.47. (WATCH Race Here)
