Texans aren't just ripping up the rankings on the track but in the field as well, the shot put rankings to be exact. Two athletes who stand out are Chyna Otis on the girls side and Adrian Piperi on the guys. Piperi ranks U.S. #2 in the shot put after Texas A&M. His throw of 66-9.25 sits 2nd in the country just behind Jordan Geist a junior from Knoch (PA) who threw sixty-nine feet, six and a half inches for the Pennsylvania state record and ninth best indoor performance in American high school history. Piperi didn't quite take down Geist this weekend but he did get the win at Carl Lewis with a throw of 63-4.75. Otis is also on a winning streak after big weekends at both Texas A&M and Carl Lewis. At A&M the Killeen Harker Heights senior threw 45-3.75 but then surpassed that mark this weekend by throwing a new U.S. #8 45-5.75. She finished 4th last year in class 6A the state meet and says she's coming to win it all this year.
