Meet Some Athletes Who Will Be The Busiest At State

G'AUANA EDWARDS

Another four event qualifier is Spring's G'AUNA EDWARDS. Edwards is one of the toughest and most talented athletes in the state. She qualified for next week's state meet in four individual events. That means she went through district, area, and regionals in having to qualify in each event round after round after round. Edwards also ran anchor leg on Spring's 4x400 that made it all of the way to regionals.

The long jump was the only event that Edwards earned a gold medal at regionals. Her 19'8".25 was far enough to get her to state with the top region 2 jump. Her 5'4" high jump was well short of her PR, but it was good enough to get her second place and her second event at state. Perhaps the most impressive qualifications were in the 100h and 300h. The girls hurdles are amongst the most competitive events in Texas and Region 2-6A was loaded with hurdle talent. Edwards placed second in both hurdle events with a wind legal 13.58 and an outstanding 41.97.

Edwards is no stranger to competing in all of these events. She has done it all year, in fact she has done it for years. In the summer, she competes in individual events and as a heptathlon events. Edwards is just that good of an all around athlete as she has signed on to continue to do so in college.
