Analysis: As a freshman, Mopsik entered the UIL season looking like a seasoned vet rather than as a freshman. She set an early rhythm for her season out the gates as she began with low 19 minute 5K runs and lowered them to mid and low 18s by seasons end. Not only did Mopsik impress with her times, but she also had very high finishes for a freshman running at the varsity level. Mopsik only finished outside of the top ten three times the entire season. Those three meets were the biggest meet in Texas (McNeil, State, and Nike South Regionals) and still those places were very respectable.
On the track, she ran some very respectable times. She ran her fastest early in the outdoor season with a 5:13.73 1600m and 11:16.83 for 3200m.
Mopsik led her Austin Vandergrift team to the UIL 6A state meet and will look to do so again this year as well with more big time individual performances.
