Athlete: ACE CASTILLO

Year: Senior, Class of 2018

School: Corpus Christi Tuloso Midway High School

Analysis: Castillo is a gamer. He shows up for big meets and competes hard. The 2016 season was a fast season for Castillo. He ran just about every meet in the 15s. It's of no surprise he ran fast at the McNeil Invitational as he went 14:56.71, but he soon followed that up a at the UIL 5A state meet with a true 5K PR of 15:10.95 just a few weeks later. That earned Castillo his second consecutive runner-up for the individual 5A cross country title. Castillo also ran well during track season PRing in the 800m with 1:57.75, placing second at state in the 1600m in 4:17.86, and taking third in the 3200m in a 9:22.66 PR. His times are legit and he is as talented and gifted as any runner in Texas.

What is it going to take for Castillo to get that elusive UIL 5A title and become the Ace of 5A?
