Austin Metro Boys To Watch For This Cross Country Season

Sebastian Martinez - Round Rock

Round Rock was very good last year as a team and it looked like they were going to qualify for the state meet as a team. Unfortunately, they fell just a little short of that goal, but a main reason they were in contention was due to Martinez.

He's had the type of development over his career all athletes could wish for. He started out as a freshman running 19s and 20s, moved down to the mid 17s as a sophomore, and down to the high 15s last year and was a individual state meet qualifier.

Martinez was in rhythm at the UIL 6A - District 13 meet when he PRed in 16:02.30, then 15:39.44 at the UIL Region 2 XC Championships, and he then ran his second sub 16 minute 5K of the year at state in 15:50.90.

With a progression arrow continuing to point up, Martinez is definitely a guy to watch out for.
