Bulverde Gloria Deo Academy has the top two ranked runners heading into Monday's state meet. Isabella Haas (12:56) and Abigail Scholl (13:34) should be front runners in the 1A girls race.

However, you can't count out Elaina Craven (Fredericksburg Heritage). Craven has the third fastest time of the season going into Monday's championships with her 13:51 SB, but she was last year's runner up and ran much faster.

In the team race, Hass and School will no only be looking to win the individual title, but they'll be leading Bulverde Gloria Deo Academy to a team championship. They have have a huge team average advantage with their 14:22 team average, which is far better than defending champion Conroe Lifestyle Christian's 17:47.

TAPPS 1A Boys

Joshua Mayben (San Angelo Christian Academy) is the top ranked TAPPS 1A runner this season; he is also the top returner from last year's state meet when he finished runner-up.

Mayben's 17:39.60 from the Eldorado Stride on the Divide is already faster than his time at state last year, so he is in a good seat to get his state championship. 

This race could be all Mayben based on his top time of the season, but his next best couple of 5,000m times are far off his SB. That could open the door for Joshua Bright (Bellville Faith Academy), Trey Freel (Still Creek Christian), and Riley Poncio (Waxahachie Prep) who was sixth overall last year.

2021 TAPPS 1A Boys Rankings

The team championship could come down to Still Creek and defending champions Waxahachie Prep. Still Creek has a 19:26 team average this season, which is well ahead of Wax Prep's 20:55.
