Sam Moseley Relays boy's 4x400 relay

Humble Summer Creek 4x400 Relay

The defending UIL 6A team champions only had one relay last year at the state meet and the was the 4x400 relay. They finished second overall when they ran 3:15.59, helping them to taking home the trophy.

This past weekend, Summer Creek competed in their first meet at the Sam Moseley Relays, and they picked up where they left off last May in the 4x400 relay. Summer Creek ran 3:14.44 to get the win and start their 2022 season off with a bang.

Mackenzie Dagrosa (San Antonio Reagan)

Dagrosa participated in a couple of events last Thursday between the field events and the relays. However, she managed to power through cold and the wind to match her 5-10 PR. The sophomore entered the season with a 5-10 PR last year, but she has already matched that height two times this season.

She jumped 5-10 on January 7th at the Texas A&M High School Indoor Classic and now again at the San Antonio Northside ISD meet. What was the ceiling last year for Dagrosa could become the average height for Dagrosa.

Suzan Ogunleye (Pflugerville Henderickson)

Ogunleye already had the second best triple jump nationally for the indoor circuit. After this weekend, her 41-3.5 now leads the state in the outdoor rankings after with her win at the Lake Travis Inv.

Killian ran 1:52.69 to lower his previous personal best in the event from 1:57.12 from the District 21-6A. The new took advantage state leader in the event took advantage of having the 2021 UIL 6A state meet runner-up Darius Rainey in the race, who also ran an outstanding time of 1:53.07.

Jamari Harts (DeSoto)

Jamari Harts is riding his indoor momentum in the 400m right into the outdoor season. He ran 48.39 indoors and now takes the state lead in the event with his 47.83.
Harts transferred from Garland Sachse where he was sixth at last year's UIL 6A state meet. His win at the
Bryan Adams Cougar Relays shows he is ready for the season.

Weiser finally achieved her goal of winning a state championship last year, in fact, she won two (shot put and discus)

This weekend, she started her 2022 season off by throwing 142-8 in the discus and then the state's top throw in the shot put with her 47-4 at the Consolidated A&M Tiger Relays.

However, it was his first race where he ran to both a win and a new PR of 9:16.49 to win by over 10 seconds. The new PR was also nearly a 10 second improvement for the UTA signee.

Colleyville Heritage sophomore Allie Love ran two state leading times this weekend. She ran 2:14.09 in the 800m and 5:01.45 at the Grapevine Mustang Relays. After finishing second at the UIL 5A state cross country meet, she could have her eyes on a state title in the shorter distances this spring.

Chris Brinkley (Fort Bend Marshall)

Brinkley captured two hurdle wins this weekend at his home meet, the Buffalo Relays. The UT signee won the 110H in a 14.36 PR, but then later dropped a 37.52 in the 300H.

The 37.52 wasn't quite a PR for Brinkley, but it was a state leading time. He also contributed to two Marshall relay wins with their 41.76 in the 4x100 relay and their 3:17.36 in the 4x400 relay.

Torns is another state champion from last year who had an impressive outing this weekend. The UIL 6A long jump defending champ jumped a 24-7.5 PR at the Lake Travis Inv. to take the state outdoor lead.

Boerne Champion senior Anastacia Gonzales (16) won two races at the Northside ISD meet

Anastacia Gonzales (Boerne Champion)

Gonzales captured two meet wins Thursday and they weren't without challenges. The San Antonio weather forecast was for warm weather during the day. That was accurate as was the prediction for temps to drop and the wind to pick up.

However, Gonzales was still victorious by going 2:16.40 and then her solo effort of 5:02.49 was the state leader for two days.

Cristion Davis (Austin Vandegrift)

Vandegrift senior Cristion Davis not only captured two meet wins a the Lake Travis Inv., but he also added two big PRs to his throwing resume.

Mann is the defending UIL 6A pole vault state champion, but the start to his 2022 outdoor season possibly felt as dramatic as the state meet.

Mann had fellow state meet challengers Colton Rhodes (Klein Cain) and Sergio Rivas (Lake Travis) competing with him at the Lake Travis Inv. Mann won the event by skying for a state leading 16-6.
