Girls 4x200 Relay

Brock was the defending Gold medalist from 2021 in lane 8 this year hoping to defend their title. Getting off to a fast start in lane two was Universal City Randolph who got the first exchange. Blue Ridge and Goliad closed in on the leader in the second exchange. Daingerfield was also in the mix in lane nine.

Goliad and Randolph battled it out to the end with Goliad getting the advantage on the last exchange and carried that lead coming off the turn, but with fifty meters to go Randolph made a mad dash to the finish but came up a tad short with Goliad closing fast and taking the gold right out of their hands.

Goliad finished with a time of 1:41.67 and captured the gold medal, Universal City Randolph 1:41.77 came in second place, while Cameron Yoe had a 1:42:42 for the bronze medal.

Girls 4x400 Relay

Shallowater had the first exchange coming off of the first leg of the UIL 3A girls 4x400 relay, but it was quickly Tatum and Fairfield catching up by time they came off the first turn on the second leg.

Shallowater would get back up for second position before the leg was over, but Fairfield would extend their lead and be solidly in control going into the last handoff.

With 200m to go in the race, Shallowater would close the gap and the sprint was on with 100m to go.

Shallowater proved they were just as strong on the back end of the relay as they were on the front end. That lead to a state championship with an impressive 3:55.59 thanks to a 56.13 anchor leg carry. Fairfield followed up their strong running from the Region 3-3A meet to finish runner up in 3:56.18, and Bushland was third in 3:59.37.
