AUSTIN — At the tender age of 16, Stevens sophomore Rynell Parson has already become a master at the fine art of nonchalance.
Ask him about any of his myriad track achievements, and you're just as liable to get a shrug and a few mumbles as you will a show of genuine excitement.
Parson was up to his old tricks Saturday at Myers Stadium — until his mother flashed the gold medal he'd just won as the Class 5A 100-meter champion.
"It's a great thing," Parson said, a broad smile spoiling his stoic demeanor. "That's the state 'ship. There are a lot of great athletes in this state. It's been a good year."
