Jasmine Moore breaks the USATF girls 13-14 Triple Jump National Record

Jasmine Moore after breaking the USATF Girls 13-14 Triple Jump National Record (12.08m)

This is your first year doing Triple Jump and you have already broken the national record. Is there anything you can attribute to your Triple Jump success?

Yes, my success in triple jump goes out to my long jump and triple jump coach Kenneth Roseman, my track coach Orlando McDaniel and my parents for always pushing me and keeping me motivated, focused, and hungry.

On your first jump, you were over the record but it wasn’t wind legal. Although it didn’t count as the record, how did it make you feel knowing that you had jumped farther than anyone in your division?

I felt really good just to know I got one good jump in. It made me a little calmer and it was a PR so I was really happy with my first jump.

On your second jump, you jumped a wind legal 12.08m to officially break the 14-year-old record. What did this record mean to you?

It was such a great feeling because I have worked all season for that goal and that record. It was just really awesome to see all my hard work pay off.

Now that you have the record, are there any special marks that you are going for at the national meet?

I would love to jump a 40 at nationals but my main goal is to work on my technique and work on focusing on the process more than the outcome.
