Mark Hurst the long time head coach of the boys track and field program at Austin Westlake High School passed away Sunday, Oct 4th at the age of 59. The Austin Statesman reported Sunday morning he passed away after a battle with stage 4 colon, lung and liver cancer for the past 30 months.
In his time as head boys track coach, Coach Hurst won 14 district championships. The track at Chaparral Stadium was named in his honor back in February 2014. To read the more go to http://www.statesman.com.
