Senior Jais Smith of Mansfield Legacy had himself quite the day at the 2018 Carl Lewis Inv. Smith ran all three rounds of the 60m in good fashion.
Smith started out the day in the prelims where he opened the day in 6.92 as he cruised and let up through the line.
That was telling as he would take things a little more serious in the semifinal when he ran through the line with what everybody expected -- a significantly faster time as he posted a 6.84.
The University of Houston commit must have felt some sort of responsibility to represent at his future home. With his future teammates and coaches watching, the 60m final was just that much more dosage of Jais Smith. In the final, he blasted out of the blocks from the gun straight to his drive phase putting on a clinic as he transitioned to the finish line to run his second 6.84 of the day.
At the end of the day, a U.S. #2 ranking is Smith's reward for a day's work.
