Boys Preseason All-State Cross Country 1st Team

Rank: #5

Name: Jarrett Kirk

School: Flower Mound

Graduation Year: 2020

Kirk had a sensational sophomore season both individual and team related. That added him to the outstanding boys class of 2020.Unlike the two previous guys, Kirk doesn't have the part of the story where he qualified for state as a freshman as he was pretty much on JV his freshman year. However, he did change that with hard work and belief in the Flower Mound system and himself.

Not only did he make it to state last year, he won the whole darn thing. Yep, he became the UIL state cross country champion in the largest division in the state with his 15:02.60 PR. He wasn't a one hit wonder as he had an entire season of success. He didn't break 17:00 as a freshman, but it turned out that last year not once did he run over 16:00 with 15:58.90 on the tough NXN course and conditions producing that as his slowest time of the year.

Kirk's improvement was part of Flower Mound's team success as he helped lead them back to state as well as to a NXN automatic qualifying spot.

Kirk was also good on the track last year. He PRed with 2:00.58, 4:15.43, 9:09.64 marks on the season. He also qualified for the UIL 6A state track meet in the 3200m where he placed 9th.

No doubt Kirk is one of Texas' best as well as a top national runner.
