Eva Jess runs away with one of the meets in the El Paso area

Eva Jess - El Paso Franklin

So, the Eva Jess situation is much like Heidi Nielson's. She was an elite freshman last year and has been fairly quiet this year. Part of that is because she is way out in El Paso, and part of it is the El Paso boys have been out of control good all season long.

However, Jess has continued to do what she did last year. She runs the races on her schedule and competes big time when the big races come up.

She finished fifth last year at the UIL 6A state meet, and she now looks to be right back on track for another big state meet this year. After cruising for most of the year, she dropped a 17:30  3 mile at the Yselta/Hanks Invitational and then a blazing 17:31.80 5K the at Nike Desert Twilight Festival.

Look for regionals to be another big time performance and then watch her put on a show at state, but don't sleep on the west's top girl.
