Galena Park Northshore
Last Spring, Galena Park Northshore had good seasons with both the girls and boys teams. Then, this Fall, the Northshore boys won a UIL 6A football state championship.
The momentum has continued into the 2019 track and field season.
This weekend, at the Manvel Dawson Inv, the Mustangs points came from all over the place as Northshore got wins in the sprints all of the way to the distance events. Sprinters Dorian Hewitt (100m) ran 10.67 for the win and Brandon Frazier (200m) ran 22.33 ran for second place in the 200m. Hurdler Daymond Lewis did his part and added a win in the 110H.
The distance help came from miler Jose Gonzalez (4:21.77) and then additional points came from the field events when Treverion Hodges won the high jump with his 6-6. Frazier then contributed more points in the long jump with a win in 22-8.5.
Two relay second places (41 low in the 4x100 and a 1:27.86 in the 4x200) have the Northshore boys looking like possible tough outs later on in 2019 season.
