Getting To Know Bailey Goggans

A sophomore running in her second National appearance this Sunday ranked 9th, Bailey Goggans epitomizes passion for running. As a first grader running in PE earning tokens to reach marathon status, her teacher compared her to a gazelle. Competitive running began in 7th grade when the gazelle Bailey Goggans began attaining gold medals to reach National status.

When asked have you always won? Goggans replied, "Yes, until I was blessed with the wonderful opportunity to run at the National level last summer. Those were really fun experiences to challenge myself to a new level. I want to earn more awesome opportunities like that this year." Goggans aspires to be the best she can be to honor God and make her school and community proud. She encourages herself with prayer. Presently she is reading The Assist, a book for athletes on glorifying God through sports.

Goggans has goals. 2:04 in the 800m and 54 in the 400m. She'd love to run professionally someday and has her eye on qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Trials.

"I'm thankful God has blessed me with the opportunity to run.

Bailey Goggans - Marble Falls sophomore

Although running is her passion (can't stand "off days") Bailey Goggans is also a numbers person and puzzle solver. Anything from escape rooms, puzzles, Rubix cubes to even at the tender age of 12 memorizing the first 100 digits of Pi. She uses her Numbers Sense to pace splits. Numbers to science, Bailey would like to be an orthopedic surgeon.

Being the sister with two younger brothers (Garrett 13 & Graham 9), she's not a prankster; she leaves that task to her siblings. For instance, just last week her brother filled the bathroom with balloons almost to the ceiling. I wonder how he got the door closed? During the summer when she's not competing at Nationals, Bailey and her family cherish watching her brother Garrett play at ODP soccer camp in Alabama, or snorkeling (her favorite family vacation: snorkeling in Jamaica) or being at home with her four cats. Although not your average sophomore high school girl, Bailey still studies hard before big tests and has fun hanging out with friends. She enjoys school and gives every assignment her all.

Goggans: "I'm thankful God has blessed me with the opportunity to run. I'm so thankful for my awesome coaches who work hard every day to help me achieve my goals. I'm thankful for my youth pastor who comes and runs with me every week to help challenge and encourage me. My friends and I all run together, and we have fun have joking and supporting each other. I have the best friends, teammates, and family."

Thank you Bailey for being an inspiration!!
