Chachi (Anastacia) Gonzales was having a great 2020 season when it was ended because of COVID-19. She had run a 2:10.04 800m PR in February and then the last day of the season she ran a 4:55.59 PR in the 1600m.
Even though the official season was prematurely ended, Gonzales' running was not. She has continued to train and get some fast time trials in to prove her fitness level to herself.
As social distance restrictions being slowly uplifted, Gonzales got together with some training partners for a 1600m time trial. It showed, her fitness level is through the roof!
Not only did she PR, but she nearly ran faster than the state meet record (Julia Heymach (Houston Lamar) - 4:40.97 -2015). Gonzales dropped an unofficial 4:41.98, approximately a second off of the fastest time ever ran in Texas.
Chachi Gonzales (Boerne Champion) - 4:41.98
Lauren Bettencourt (San Antonio Feast) - 4:59.29
Kelsie Vicknair (Boerne Champion) - 5:01.78
