Shot Putter Jacob Tracy, 'I Just Figured Some Things Out'

Jacob Tracy is a big time athlete who has been involved in football and track and field since he was a youngster. Now, he is all grown up and is still pushing forward in athletics.

He has been a four year member of the perennial powerhouse Lake Travis football program as well as their track and field squad.

Throwing has been in his family as his older brother and current Arizona State University Jared Tracy paved the way and had a big senior year going to state in both the shot put and discus where he finished third at the 2018 UIL 6A state meet.

Even though it's early, like Jared, Jacob it having a heck of a senior year. His 64-9 season best currently leads the state rankings in the shot put and he is second in the discus with a 185-10.

As far as what's working this year for Tracy are really the little big things, "I just figured out some technical things; for me it's all about form and figuring out my forms and key points."

That improvement is huge and will continue to be key if Tracy is to win a state championship. Texas is home to many capable throwers including another of the nation's best combined throwers in Katy Taylor's Bryce Foster.

Despite having the state's number one ranking, Tracy is still looking to get better, including listening to in competition instruction and applying it, "I listen to all things, it's all about adjusting."

The Cavalier's big man is exhibiting the speed and explosiveness needed to excel in the shot put and the discus events. His goals are lofty but reasonable and Tracy seems quite fine doing the work to meet them. He is definitely one to keep an eye on over the next two months.
