The 6A Region 4 girls have put up some serious marks this season, with standout performances across the board. In the sprints, Violet Hewett of Westwood has made her presence known, leading the 100m rankings with an 11.82 and backing it up with an 11.96. Darinasia Taylor (Converse Judson) is right behind her at 11.84 and has also been a force in the 200m, clocking the fastest time in the region at 24.21. Jordan Peters (San Antonio Johnson) has been consistently near the top, ranking in the top five for both the 100m and 200m.
The 400m has been a tight battle, with Melanie Price (Austin High) leading at 55.43, just ahead of Caila Lyons (Northside Brennan) at 55.46. Lyons has been one of the busiest athletes in the region, also owning the fastest 800m time with a 2:10.48. Daniela Shelfo (Northside Taft) has put up multiple strong performances in the 800m, including a 2:11.18, and Emma Wade (Cedar Park Vista Ridge) has been right there in the mix, ranking near the top of both the 800m and the 1600m.
Wade has also been dominant in the 3200m, leading the region with a 10:42.51. Meredith Wolfe (Round Rock) isn't far behind at 10:57.29, and she's been just as competitive in the 1600m, where she sits second at 5:03.07. Faith Murphy (Austin Anderson) has also been a factor in both events, running 5:01.92 in the 1600m and 2:12.50 in the 800m.
In the hurdles, Madisyn Jackson (Northside O'Connor) has been the best in the 100m hurdles, running 14.38, and Amiyah Villasenor (United High School) has put up the top 300m hurdles time at 44.18. Villasenor and Cristina Garcia (Laredo Alexander) have combined for four of the top five 300m hurdle marks this season, while Sloane Wheeler (Austin Westlake) has also been near the top in both hurdle events.
The jumps have seen multiple names put up top performances, but Keona Benford (Austin Vandegrift) has been one of the most versatile, ranking high in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump. She's cleared 5-6 in the high jump and jumped 18-5.75 in the long jump, while KAELONY KING (Northside Sotomayor) leads the region there with a mark of 19-2. Cristina Garcia (Laredo Alexander) has been dominant in the triple jump, hitting 38-4.5 to lead the region.
In the throws, Malaysia Brady (Austin Westlake) has been the top shot putter, with her best mark of 41-8 leading the way. Cyani Ingram (San Antonio Madison) and Sophia Gonzalez (Harlingen South) have also put up strong marks, with Gonzalez showing consistency across multiple meets. In the discus, Peyton Wilson (Comal Canyon) holds the top throw at 136-0, with Annabelle Jehl (Medina Valley) not far behind at 132-11.
With district competition approaching, these athletes are only going to keep pushing the limits. Expect even bigger performances as the season heats up.
