Allison Vaughn entered with the lead qualifying mark from the regional championships with a 2:17.33. Wellington multi-sport athlete Kyla Kane took the early leading through 200m. She was joined by Vaughn who took the lead right at the 400m split coming through with a 1:08.00.
At the 600m, there girls were lined even across the track as San Saba's Brighton Adams joined the group. Adams would make a big move, eventually taking the lead before coming off the turn and powered to the finish line with Kane moving into the second position and giving an urgent chase to close the gap on Adams.
To no avail, Adams was strong enough to hold off Kane's kick to win in 2:17.83 with Kane finishing second in 2:17.99, and Vaughn third in 2:18.51.
