Ernest Campbell wins the 2021 2A boys 100m Dash

2A Boys 100m Dash

Despite being the youngest in the field, Ernest Campbell of Refugio took the 2A Boys 100 meter with a time of 10.63. This time blew away his previous PR of 10.91. Following him was Trevor Haynes of Shiner with a time of 10.67.

Haynes got out with the fastest start and looked like the clear winner up until the last 10 meters when he was outstretched by Campbell. Finishing in third was Jared Brackens of Kerens with a time of 10.74.

                                                                2A Boys 200m Dash


Coming off his third place finish in the 100, Jared Brackens earned himself another spot on the podium in the 200m dash. However, this time he claimed the gold after he turned in a time of 21.79.

Brackens edged Hesston Marshall, the 400m winner, by a short margin. Marshall finished with a time of 21.87. Ashton Morris of Holland claimed the final medal with a time of 22.06. The top five runners all finished within half a second of each other.

Hesston Marshall from Wheeler had the fastest 400m time coming into the race. As the favorite, he did not disappoint as he turned in a time of 48.84 to win the 2A Boys 400m. Marshall got off to a fast start and never looked back, leading the entirety of the race. He beat his previous PR of 49.31.

Zakyrn Jackson of Celeste followed closely behind and finished second with a time of 49.10, which was a second and a half faster than his time at the regional meet. In third was Donivan Moehr of Centerville with a time of 49.31.
