Christopher Flores fromRocksprings and Riley Webb from Ackerly Sands stayed side by side as they approached the first 400 meters where Flores pushed ahead to take the lead for the remaining 400 meters.
Flores zoomed past the finish line to take the 2021 1A Boys 800m Champion title with the time of 1:58.83. Followed by Webb with the time of 2:03.85 and Blake Beard from Turkey Valley coming in third place with a 2:03.93.
Flores qualfied for state each year except last year's COVID-19 affected season. He was eighth as a freshman, third in 2019 as a sophomore, and how wins the state title he had been chasing.
