
As usual, top teams and individuals from across Texas lined up at the Hoka One One McNeil Invitational this weekend at Settlers Park. As usual, top teams and individuals delivered an enticing array of superb performances. I will be limited to noting a few outstanding marks that will have implications to the post-season and beyond!
Emmanuel Sgouros added some excitement to the rest if the cross country season; he beat the top two runners in Texas (based on speed ratings) by a considerable margin. His previous best speed rating was 185 at the Brenham Hillacious Invitational. Walker St. John (Grapevine) had been the speed rating leader in Texas, but he should be excited about Grapevine's performance as a team. Junior Alberto Rayon is closing the gap between their formidable top 3 and the other scorers. If #5 Brian Guevara can do the same, Grapevine will be a significant podium contender at the national level.
