The Houston Cypress Christian boys team won the TAPPS 4A team title in 2021,
amassing 123.50 points, 45.5 points ahead of runner-up Lubbock Christian. In 2022,
much of the championship squad returns, led by sprint specialist senior Jackson
Owen.
Early in the 2022 season, Owen has posted a 10.90 100, 22.43 200 and 20-02 in the
long jump, although he's only recently added this event to his resume. But he's not
satisfied. He's going after the school record in the 100, currently resting at 10.82; he
wants to hit the low 21s in the 200, and he's aiming to launch 22.00+ in the long
jump while guiding a talented group back to the top of the podium.
A talented all-district defensive back on the Cypress Christian football team, Owen
plans on announcing his track & field commitment in March, so stay tuned, the
engaging senior is just getting started on his senior campaign.
Jackson Owen (2) ran 6.92 and 21.74 PRs this indoor season
