In 2022, Abby Spiars finished 33rd at the TAPPS State XC Championships. In 2023, she improved to 8th place. Under the tutelage of long-time Plano John Paul II TF/XC Coach David Nanez, Abby has also improved her 2-Mile time to 11:38.60, currently the leader in all TAPPS.
In 2023, Abby won four 2-Mile contests. As well, she set PRs in the 800 / 1600 and 3200. As a junior, she's making great strides toward becoming one of JP II's top female mid & distance runners.
With a PR of 18:42 already run at 5,000m this season, just this past weekend, she won the Denison Invitational with a time of 18:47. That helped her to a nomination for the TX MileSplit Performer of the Week Poll this week.
